Tillery Street Plant Company, located on Tillery Street in East Austin, is every plant lovers new favorite spot. Tillery offers plants that are native to the Austin area as well as herbs, organic fruit, vegetables and a wide selection of tropical plants. They are considered to be one of the largest retail nurseries in the Austin, TX area. Their staffis not your ordinary nursery crew either, they are true-to-the-bone plant lovers. Each one has their own spectrum they favor in the plant world and are always welcome to having a customer pick their brain for questions. Not everyone is a complete expert, sometimes plants can be tricky and the Tillery Street crew are always there to lend a helping hand.

I often visit the Tillery crew myself, as a plant lover, and I got the chance to talk to one of their managers while their newest edition is being built and she filled me in on everything Tillery to the plants themselves. This newspaper spread gives a great insight and introduction to everything that goes on behind-the-scenes here. Issue 01 of Tillery Street Plant Co. Newspaper was distributed on site for customers and visitors to read.

It’s just really exciting to me because I LOVE plants and it’s fun because I love talking to people about plants. It just makes it a lot easier. Yay, I feel very lucky. I didn’t plan it, you never plan it, it kind of has taken over and I love it.

We’re younger than other nurseries too. I feel like some nurseries cater to what side of town they are on. There is just some demographics on different sides of town and the East Side is very young and hip and I think that my staff reflects that.
